New York OCA Search Fees Drastically Increase

On Monday, April 1, 2019, New York Legislature passed their 2019-2020 State Budget which includes a dramatic increase to Office of Court Administration (OCA) searches from $65 to $95. This increase will be effective when the budget is signed by Governor Cuomo, which is expected to be this Friday, April 5th. The stated purpose of this increase is to fund indigent defense programs in the state of New York.

The NAPBS (National Association of Professional Background Screeners) states they will continue to explore opportunities to request the state of NY reconsider this fee.
